The three failures that generate most campus calls
Cafeteria and kitchen grease lines
A school kitchen puts more grease through a line in a week than a household does in a year, and it does it in two concentrated bursts a day. Grease cools on the pipe wall and hardens, narrowing the bore until the line closes, almost always mid-service, which is the worst possible time. These lines need scheduled jetting on a maintenance interval, not emergency response. See jetting and line cleaning.
Restroom mains at the start and end of term
Restroom mains block on paper volume and foreign objects, and the spikes are predictable: the first weeks of the school year and the last weeks before summer. A main that has been quietly narrowing all year fails when the load goes up.
Root intrusion from campus trees
Older Valley campuses have mature landscaping planted over clay pipe laid in the same decade. The roots find the joints, and the lines under playfields and quads are typically long runs with access points that have been paved or built over since. Locating comes before digging.
Working on the school calendar
Anything that can wait, waits for a time the campus is empty. Nights, weekends, holiday breaks and summer. Where a failure cannot wait, we work to isolate the affected building and keep the rest of the campus in service rather than shutting the site down.
Summer is when the real work should happen, and the districts that plan it that way spend less. A camera survey during the school year costs very little, tells you which lines are actually failing, and turns the summer window into scheduled work instead of a scramble. Surveying in May and bidding the repairs for July is the single biggest thing a facilities department can do to stop paying emergency rates in October.

How the work reaches us
Three ways, and all of them are normal.
- Directly from the district on a work order or purchase order, for a single site or a single line
- As a subcontractor to the facilities, maintenance or JOC contractor who holds your district's contract, see for prime contractors
- On an as-needed or unit-price contract, priced to your line items
We are DIR registered, we pay the applicable prevailing wage determination, and we file certified payroll electronically. Registration number goes out with any quote.
Scope, and what is outside it

Not in our scope
Fixtures, toilets, sinks and faucets. Water heaters. Domestic water supply piping. Gas piping. Fire lines. New building plumbing. If those are line items in your package you need a general plumbing contractor for that portion, and we will say so on day one rather than subbing it out badly.

Common questions from facilities staff
Do you work on LAUSD campuses?
Yes, on sewer and underground drain scope, either directly on work orders or as a subcontractor to a district facilities contractor. Clearance and badging are handled before crews go on site.
Can all the work be done outside school hours?
For planned work, yes, and that is the default. Nights, weekends, holiday breaks and summer. Scope it that way and we quote it that way.
What happens if a main blocks during the school day?
Call the emergency line. We isolate the affected building so the rest of the campus keeps running, clear the stoppage, then camera the line to find out why it happened before anyone talks about permanent repair.
Can you survey our lines before we build the summer scope?
It is the most useful thing we do for a district. A camera survey during term gives you graded, evidence-based priorities and turns the summer window into planned work.
Do you handle prevailing wage and certified payroll?
Yes. DIR registered, applicable determination paid, certified payroll filed electronically and to your district on the schedule your contract sets.
Can you work to our district's facilities standards?
